Koziski is generally recognized as the “father” of what evolved into the Michigan Cider Makers’ Guild. He is currently President of the Guild along with VP Koan, Treasurer Mike Beck of Uncle John’s Cider Mill near St. Johns, Secretary Mary Krause of Plymouth Orchards of Plymouth and fellow board members Ed Robinette of Robinette’s Apple Haus in Grand Rapids, Rob Nelson of Parmenter’s Northville Cider Mill in Northville, Les Posey of Yates Cider Mill near Rochester Hills, and Chuck Hiner of Past Tense Cider Mill in Lapeer. As a new cider season arrives, the Michigan Cider Makers’ Guild has staked out plenty of new objectives. “We want to preserve a heritage,” Koziski said. “Cider has been a favorite American beverage almost back to the Mayflower. It’s an important part of our history. We’d like consumers to appreciate this rich American cider tradition and link it to the present.”
